April/May News #LOVE looks like something

This is picture of a mother with her son, who has been away at school for a year, reunited ON Mother's Day. This a picture of what LOVE looks like. It's one thing to say "I love this person". You and I have heard it a million times. It's an entirely different thing when that love that was birthed in the heart HAS to be expressed, when it has to MANIFEST in some way. LOVE LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING!

"For this is how much God loved the world - He gave His uniquely conceived Son as a gift. So now everyone who believes in Him will never perish but experience everlasting life." (John 3:16 the passion translation)

I started seeing this hashtag #lovelookslikesomething on many of Trevor's photos he was putting on Instagram. Pictures of him & his team ministering in Panama, praying for the sick, the dying, the condemned, telling perfect strangers how beautiful and loved they were, giving hugs to people only to have them experience the LOVE of God touching them, healing many of them physically, emotionally & spiritually. Even this last Friday night he was downtown SD with his brother and a couple friends having fun, taking pictures, walking the Gaslamp and they end up praying for people, buying a guy a slice of pizza, encouraging someone else with a word of encouragement. For them, LOVE LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING!

How can we, who call ourselves Christ followers, who can experience GOD loving us 24/7, not have THIS LOVE manifest, overflow, express itself to those all around us? I have been confronted with this and I really can't offer a good explanation. I can say that for me, this looks like an invitation to the MORE of God. I am not content to walk around knowing God loving me and NOT have that that love manifest into my world. I am excited and inspired by this invitation that has always been there. The invitation carries no condemnation or guilt. It's just that LOVE LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING!

"So I give you now a new commandment: Love each other just as much as I have loved you. For when you DEMONSTRATE the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know you're my true followers." (John 13:34-35 The Passion Version)

The Latest on Trevor

Trevor praying the LOVE of the Father into this guy on the streets of SD #lovelookslikesomething

My son Trevor just returned home from a year at BSSM - Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry. SO many stories can be told of his year, of the transformation of his heart, how uniquely God loves Trevor and how God loves people through him.

His focus for his year at BSSM was intimacy with the Father. He had quite a year with over 1200 other first year classmates, 800+ of whom were from other countries! He literally has friends in almost every corner of the world.

His ministry trip was to Panama. He and his team went with a very loose schedule but with the focus that #LOVE looks like something! The love of God that we "talk about" really can manifest and become something we can experience and share with others. I think that is the Good News we are invited to shared. That God IS love and HE loves YOU! And HIs love WILL manifest in many different ways as expressions of that love. On this trip people experienced God loving them through Trevor and his team. It looked different with every person. For some it was a hug in which God spoke to their hearts and loved them by healing their emotional wounds. For others it was being told that they were beautiful and the God loved them. For one man who was supposed to die that week of prostate cancer, God loved him by healing him completely of his cancer. For a notorious prisoner, he experienced God loving him through a physical healing of his neck & hip, through an encounter where he understood in his heart God telling him that He has been loving him his entire life and will continue to love him. This prisoner accepted this God's love for the rest of his life and accepted Jesus as his Lord & as his Savior. There were so many more stories Trevor could tell you of how LOVE LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING more than words.

From Trevor's Trip to panama

Trevor has been editing a movie of his trip to Panama which he hopes to have completed by the end of June. You can check for it at his YouTube page TREVOR COCHRAN

Here's a couple links to 2 of Trevor's videos:

Trevor will be around for two months June & July before he takes off for his next adventure with the Lord. Where he is going is a little sensitive to put in print. So I encourage you to join us at our home through the summer on Sunday evenings at 4pm to hear directly from Trevor. We are calling these nights "Love Looks Like Something".

The Latest on Connor

Bridge in Big Sur captured by Connor - see his image on instagram

My son Connor is just about finished with his Junior year at Carlsbad High School. If you don't know it, Connor is an amazing photographer growing in his artistry. Pictured above, we HAD to pull over on the 101 so he could get a few images of this "amazing bridge". I love Connor's eye for beauty and for creating. His work is being awarded at the highest levels in high schools throughout the state. He REALLY has the bug to travel. HIs list of "I gotta go there!" is growing. He will most likely be taking on a summer job as a lifeguard at Lego Land or as a surf instructor saving money for better cameras, lenses and for travel.

Currently Connor has 2 of his photos on display at the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park, San Diego.

Here is Connor's Instagram page if you'd like to see a sample of his work. CONNORRCOCHRAN

Living By Faith

I've heard it said that Faith is the seamless connection between the heart of God and the heart of man. Faith is not the result of striving. It's not the result of works or of effort. Faith is actually the result of surrender. It is the yielded condition of the believer who meets a perfect God. He is trustworthy, that's why we trust Him. And whenever we become distracted or weak in faith its always because there's a weakness in the connection. The most normal thing in the world is to trust to only One in the universe Who's never lied.

We've trusted our emotions, our opinions, we trust people around us, we trust the systems, organizations, all kinds of things and every one of them have failed. And people struggle with faith in God Who has never lied.

I'm just saying if we are struggling with our faith in God there is probably corrosion in the connection resulting from a poor connection, just like with your car battery. So faith is then the seamless connection between the surrendered heart of man and the heart of God.

If you find yourself in a place where you'd say your faith is weak, it would be an honor to pray for you, to encourage your connection between your surrendered heart and the heart of God. You see with God, the "battery" or source of power, will NEVER be run down or weak. It will ALWAYS be a connection problem when our faith is weak. And we can face those challenges with our connections together, we can clean away the corrosion and restore a great connection.

Be a Part of our Life of Faith

Sadie, the Bernese Mountain Dog continues to believe she is human.145lbs

This will be our 8th year of living completely on donations. It's the life Father has given us grace for. It's not been easy, but it's the WAY He invited us to live, serving Him and His people and we wouldn't have it any other way! It's like we get to "raise support" each and every month to go on a mission trip, each and every month - kinda crazy. Each month we "seem" to be short of what we need and EVERY MONTH (for 8 years!) He provides a new creative way for that money to come in. I have to admit, through many, many of these months I was full of worry.

These days, we continue to "seem" to be short of the amount we need for the ministry and our family but He has lovingly persuaded me AND my family to rest in the way He will provide for us. Some of you reading this News Letter have been wonderfully walking with us these many years as friends and as financial supporters. We are so loved and encouraged by the Lord through your partnership & support. THANK YOU. SO MANY DOORS are opening up for us to go out and love more people locally, nationally & now internationally. Invitations continue to come our way.

I would like to humbly & yet unashamedly invite you to ask God about becoming a monthly supporter and/or making a generous donation today. We are currently receiving 50% of what we need financially. Invitations to England and Nashville are all pending additional donations to come forward. We need about $500 for each destination. God has generously covered all our travel expenses! WOW! Now we just are looking to the Lord for our day to day expenses for these trips and for life on the home front.

Thank you for praying. This is truly exciting!

Grove Gatherings

These Grove Gatherings are a highlight of every month. Here's a cool shot of my great friend, visual artist Tom Clark leading, serving, blessing our community. We've been gathering for over 30 months with artists from all over Southern California.

Visiting Artists

We love to share our home in Carlsbad with visiting artists for times of refreshment, healing and laughter. It's somewhat normal to receive a call from an artist requesting the guest room at "Chateau Cochran". Pictured here is Pastor Masao, also a recording worship artist from Sao Paulo, Brazil. This week our great friend, Paul Clark is in town, Arnie Vilches & his wife Holly will be here Saturday and Stephen Proctor will be moving in later on this month. We love to love people!

Weekly Coffee Meetings

it's a different conversation you have sitting across a table instead of a desk. I think there is something to Jesus always inviting people to a meal, to the table. It's personal, not professional. I believe more real, authentic, life changing conversations happens over a cup of coffee or another beverage and or meal than in a thousand meetings. As a pastor, a mentor, a creative, a friend, more importantly, as a son, it's my honor to pour into these relationships where I can walk with someone, helping them to reach their God-given potential through the life-sharing of God-given resources. I have the privilege of walking with many artists from all over the world.

Trevor Graduates!

It's hard to believe it's already been a year that Trevor went up to Redding California to attend his first year at BSSM - Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry. This was the focus of this year:
BSSM is committed to the truth that God loves people, gave Himself for them and has given His Church supernatural power to bring individuals and nations into wholeness. The mission of BSSM is to equip and deploy revivalists who passionately pursue world-wide transformation in their God-given spheres of influence. Students are trained to continue in the ministry style of Jesus: to enjoy the presence of God, say what He is saying, and do what He is doing.

We are so excited for what was deposited and birthed in Trevor's heart this year. It really was LOVE. There are many many stories he can share with you in person about his first year, his ministry trip to Panama and about the next adventure he is about to depart on August 1st in Asia.
Look out world! My son is coming to love on you!
Below are some pictures from our trip back home along the coast.
